New director of higher education appointed

PATNA: In a dramatic move, Bihar higher education director J P Singh was removed from the post on Saturday. B D College principal Sita Ram Singh took over as the new director of higher education.

Though the exact cause of unceremonious removal of Patna University sociology teacher J P Singh from the post could not be ascertained, it is believed that certain lobby was acting against him. He had instituted inquiry against some officials in different universities of the state in the recent past. Singh had joined this office about one and a half years back.

Meanwhile, PU has terminated the Syndicate membership of S B Lal of Vanijya Mahavidyalaya and D P Kamal of ancient Indian history and archaeology department with effect from July 28, 2010, owing to their promotion as readers. They had been elected to the Syndicate under lecturers' quota, said a PU notification.
