It was established on 27th December 1956 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It is a deemed university which offers various courses and degree of law and make measures to improve law education in India. It is located at New Delhi.

Under the Pay Scale of Rs.37400-67000/-
3 posts are for Professors. Candidates for this post should be an eminent scholar with Ph.D with minimum 10 years of experience with at least score of API based on PBAS.
Under the Pay Scale of Rs.15600-39100/-
3 posts are for Associate Professors. Candidates should have at least 55% marks in LLM with good academic record along with Ph.D with 8 years of experience and having minimum score in API based on PBAS.
3 posts are for Assistant Professors. Candidates should have at least 55% marks in Master Degree and must have cleared NET/SLET/ SET. Candidates who have cleared Ph.D Degree will be exempted from requirement of NET/SLET/SET.
1 post is for Assistant Librarian. Candidates should have Master Degree in concerned subject with minimum 55% marks with good academic record and must have cleared NET/SLET/SET. Candidates with Ph.D Degree will be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET.
1 post is for Assistant Controller of Examination, 1 post is for Accounts Officer and 1 post is for Computer System Administrator. Candidates for these post should have minimum 55% marks in concerned Master Degree with 5 years of experience.

1 post is for Editorial Assistant. Candidates should have Graduation in English with LLB with experience of editing legal documents and having good knowledge of computers.
1 post is for Library Assistant. Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree with Degree/ Diploma in Library Science with 1 year of experience along with good knowledge of computers.
1 post is for Caretaker. Candidates should have Bachelors Degree with ITI/ intermediate with Diploma of 2 years in Mechanical/ Civil / Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience of maintenance of building.
2 posts are for Exam Assistant. Candidates should have a Graduation Degree with 5 years of experience and also having good knowledge of computers.
Under the Pay Scale of Rs.5200-20200/-
3 posts are for Junior Library Assistant. Candidates should have a Bachelors Degree with Certificate course in library science and having good knowledge of English with computers.
Age limit: For Professors posts candidates age should not be more than 60 years. For Editorial Assistant, Library Assistant, Care taker, Exam Assistant and Junior Library Assistant, candidates age should be less than 40 years while for the rest of the posts, maximum age limit is 45 years.
